Jay C. Barmann

I'm a writer, content strategist, storyteller, journalist, and highly skilled editor with a deep background in project management and nearly two decades experience with all of the above. Passionate about supporting the arts and LGBTQ causes and have experience navigating the non-profit sector as well. Also have done a fair bit of food and cocktail writing, theater criticism, photography, and succulent gardening.

  • Generate, edit, copyedit, and curate all digital content and social media strategy for the hip and informative SF news and culture blog.

  • Originally report stories from around the Bay Area, interviewing key figures, and produce stories through original reporting and the fast synthesis of information from multiple news sources

  • Write 6-7 content pieces per day, manage SEO and editorial calendar, and grow audience metrics.

  • Manage and train staff of freelancers and full-time writers, assigning work and making new hires.

  • Grew the site’s monthly pageview metrics twice — once to 3 million views per month, and again after a year-long hiatus from zero to 2 million per month.
